Description

The property comprises two adjoining houses, dating from the early 19th century, situated on Fore Street in Chacewater. The ground floors are constructed of elvan and killas stone, with a rendered finish to the first floors. The roofs are covered with asbestos slates, with the left-hand side having plain slates and the right-hand side featuring corrugated asbestos. Brick chimneys are present at the gable ends and over the party wall.

The left-hand house (number 20) is a one-room dwelling with two storeys and a two-window front facing south. It features original hornless 16-pane sash windows. A doorway with a top-glazed panel door is located to the right of the front. Cemented wooden lintels are positioned above the ground floor openings. The right-hand house (number 21) is a two-room dwelling, also with two storeys, and displays a symmetrical three-window south front with a four-panel door set within a gable-roofed porch. The porch’s latticed panels flank a shouldered doorway. Painted cambered arches are above the ground floor windows. A cast iron rainwater head and downpipe are also present. The interiors have not been inspected. The building is included on the list for its group value.
