Description
No. 61 Fore Street is a house and shop dating from the early to mid-19th century, with later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of stone rubble, with the first floor covered in painted asbestos slate-hanging and a bitumenised slate hipped roof. It has a double depth plan, with a shop inserted into the ground floor rooms.
The exterior features two storeys and two windows. The first floor has two late 19th-century four-pane sash windows. The ground floor includes a late 19th-century shop front, which has a wide canted plate-glass window on both the right and left sides, supported by colonnettes. The central entrance is a recessed glazed door with a fielded panel at the base and an overlight above. The shop front also has a 20th-century fascia and a tiled stall riser with pilasters.
On the left side, the building is rendered, featuring a 20th-century door and window at ground level. The first floor includes a 20th-century window and a four-pane sash window at the attic level. The interior has not been inspected.
