Description
Lampshire and Nancollas and Olver and Sons, and Cottage Cuts consists of two cottages that have been converted into estate agents and hairdressers with accommodation above. They date from around the 18th century and are constructed of painted and rendered stone rubble, topped with a rag slate roof that has a nipped higher end on the left and a cement-washed scantle slate roof with a gabled lower end on the right. There is an axial brick chimney stack located between the two properties, along with a rendered brick chimney stack on the front slope at the lower gable end. The building has a single depth plan, with the ground rising from Fore Street and dropping down to the rear of the properties in Little Green.
The front elevation is two storeys high, with a basement at the rear due to the change in ground level. It features an asymmetrical two-window layout facing Fore Street. The ground floor includes a 20th-century shop window with glazing bars beneath a timber lintel, along with two part-glazed doors that are set back and a four-pane sash window to the right. The first floor has a 12-pane sash window and a 20th-century window to the right. The hipped gable end shows the ground dropping to the rear, where there are two 19th-century casement windows in the basement beneath timber lintels. The ground floor also has a 20th-century bow window and a casement window with glazing bars above. The rear elevation of Cottage Cuts is three storeys high, featuring sash windows on the first and second floors.
