Description

Higher Ventongimps is a farmhouse dating from the 18th century, which was reroofed and had its eaves slightly heightened around the late 19th century. The building features walls made of killas rubble, with cob on the upper floor at the rear. It has brick arches over the openings and a dry Delabole slate roof with projecting verges. The chimneys are brick, situated over the stumps of former stone chimneys at the gable ends.

The farmhouse has a double-depth plan, consisting of two rooms at the front that flank a central entrance hall, which likely leads to a stair hall between the rear service rooms. There is a 19th-century dairy and back kitchen wing on the left, with an outshut at the rear that continues as a lean-to behind the left side of the original house. A 20th-century extension is located on the right.

The exterior is two storeys high, with a symmetrical three-window front and a central doorway. The late 19th-century gable-ended porch and windows of similar date are set in openings spanned by segmental brick arches. The pointed arched wooden doorway has a top-glazed door with marginal panes, and the ground floor openings feature tripartite sashes. At the rear, there are old two-light casements with glazing bars, set in openings spanned by timber lintels. The interior has not been inspected.
