Description

Carnkief Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century. It features walls made of killas rubble with brick arches above the openings. The roof is covered with grouted scantle slate and has brick chimneys at the gable ends. At the rear right, there is an external rubble chimney breast with a semi-circular oven projection. The building has a double-depth plan, likely consisting of two rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall, with a pantry on the rear left and a kitchen on the rear right. There is also a lean-to porch at the back. The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window south front and a central doorway, which features a 20th-century door and a 20th-century conservatory. The windows are 20th-century 16-pane horned sashes, and the original openings are topped with shallow segmental brick arches. The interior has not been inspected.
