Description

Killifreth Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-17th century, with extensions made from the late 17th century to early 18th century, and remodelled and partly rebuilt in the 19th century. The building features painted granite and killas rubble walls, with Delabole dry slate roofs that have gable ends. There are rendered chimneys over the gable ends of the northeast wing. The original 17th-century section has a two-room plan and has been partly rebuilt in the 19th century. An additional two-room range was constructed at right angles to the northeast section, joined at the corner, and includes a rectangular stair turret that projects from the centre of the southeast wall. The farmhouse is two storeys tall, with window openings that were altered in the 19th century. Most openings have two-light casements, primarily with glazing bars. The southwest front has two windows and features an original central granite doorway with a 4-centred arch, wide chamfer, and ball on pyramid stops, leading to a top-glazed 20th-century arched door. There is another doorway to the left in the 19th-century rebuilt section, which has a 20th-century top-glazed door and a cambered arch above that incorporates an earlier moulded stone as a keystone. The interior has not been inspected.
