Description

ST AGNES MENAGISSEY SW 74 NW 7/162 Menagissey Vean - II

Farmhouse. Circa early-mid C19. Killas rubble walls with brick arches over the openings. Asbestos slate hipped roof with brick chimneys over the side walls. Pierced crested clay ridge tiles. Plan: Double-depth plan with 2 rooms at the front flanking an entrance hall leading to stair hall between rear dairy on the left and kitchen on the right (partition now removed between back kitchen and right-hand front room), slightly later lean-to on the right. Exterior: 2 storeys. Unaltered elevations. Nearly symmetrical 3-window south front with approximately central doorway. Probably original door and windows (except for later window in rear doorway); panelled door with 2 tall round-headed panels; 12-pane horned sashes. Shallow brick arches over the openings. Interior has most of its original carpentry and joinery details including a dog-leg stair.
