Description

Menagissey Vean is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid-19th century. It features walls made of killas rubble with brick arches above the openings. The roof is hipped and covered with asbestos slate, and there are brick chimneys on the side walls, topped with pierced crested clay ridge tiles. The building has a double-depth plan, consisting of two rooms at the front that flank an entrance hall leading to a stair hall. To the left is a rear dairy and to the right is a kitchen, although the partition between the back kitchen and the right-hand front room has been removed.

The exterior is two storeys high with unaltered elevations. The nearly symmetrical south front has three windows and an approximately central doorway. The door and windows are likely original, except for a later window in the rear doorway. The door is panelled with two tall round-headed panels, and the windows are 12-pane horned sashes, all featuring shallow brick arches above them. Inside, the farmhouse retains most of its original carpentry and joinery details, including a dog-leg stair.
