Description

Nancarrow Farmhouse is an early 19th century farmhouse, built on the site of an earlier mansion. It is constructed of coursed killas sandstone with a slate roof. The farmhouse has a four-room plan, incorporating a central stair hall and a rear wing containing the kitchen and service rooms. The two-storey elevation is symmetrical, featuring a central half-glazed door with an overlight, now set within a 20th century glazed porch. Sixteen-pane sashes with original glass are found in openings with cambered 9-inch brick lintels. The roof is hipped. The interior has not been inspected.

Attached to the gable of the rear wing is a killas stone wall approximately 3.5 metres high, with a hog-back coping and a slate under course. This wall extends roughly 39 metres to the west, defining the north side of the gardens against the farm road, and slopes downwards to approximately 1.5 metres at the west end, where it meets a dwarf wall with spear-headed railings and an ornamental gate.
