Description
The Carpenter's Shop, located approximately 8 metres south west of Porch Cottages, is likely a former coach house with stable and grooms' accommodation above. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed from killas and granite rubble, featuring granite dressings. The building has a corrugated asbestos roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends and in the middle of the rear wall. It includes cast-iron ogee gutters and has a rectangular plan with the former stables and coach house on the ground floor.
On the façade, there is a doorway under a first-floor window on the left, another first-floor window on the right, and small louvered windows to the left of the doorway and to the right. The entrance features an old ledged door and the original 12-pane hornless sash windows. To the right, dressed granite steps lead up to a lean-to brick porch, which has a ledged door and a scantle slate roof. The original iron handrail on the steps is scrolled under at the bottom and supported by stanchions for each step. The interior has not been inspected.
