Carpenter'S Shop 100 Metres South West Of Penrose Manor House

The Carpenter's Shop, located 100 meters south-west of Penrose Manor House, dates back to before 1833 and was built for John Rogers. It is constructed from killas rubble with granite lintels over three openings and features a grouted scantle slate roof. The building has a brick stack on the left, slate verges, and weather-boarded gables that include ladder doors, slatted gates, and rollers. It is a single-storey structure with a regular six-window range. The original windows are horizontal-sliding sashes with vertical glazing bars and random panes. In front, there is a 20th-century timber store with a low-pitched lean-to roof. The rear of the building has a wide window with three fixed lights that match the front windows, a central two-light window with a six-pane light to its left, and a rare window type with horizontal glazing bars and some random leaded panes to its right. Inside, the shop features a shouldered, tenoned king-post roof structure, a two-panel door with H hinges, a shallow round-arched keeping place, the remains of a pot-bellied stove, and a counter-balanced loft ladder.
