Description
Lanner Court, also known as Lower Lanner Farmhouse, is a farmhouse built between 1836 and 1837. It is constructed from Killas rubble with some granite dressings and features a dry slate half-hipped roof, which has a reset central finial that was originally used for a weather vane. The building has brick end stacks and a double-depth plan, standing two storeys tall with a symmetrical three-window front. The original windows are hornless sashes with glazing bars, and there is a partly-glazed panelled door. At the rear, there is an original 12-pane sash stair window, horizontal-sliding sashes with glazing bars, one window with vertical glazing bars and random panes, and a dairy window with a latticed ventilator.
Inside, Lanner Court retains many original features, including an arch between the entrance and stair hall, a dogleg staircase with stick balusters, a turned newel, and a moulded handrail. There are four-panel and two-panel doors, as well as some cupboard doors. The kitchen has a large fireplace with a chamfered wooden lintel, and the ceiling joists are moulded. The roof structure includes six tie-beam and collar trusses, along with two later 19th-century iron grates in the front rooms.
