Description
Anvil House is a circa late 18th-century house located on the north side of Fore Street in St Erth. The construction is of roughly coursed granite rubble with granite dressings. The roof is steeply pitched, covered with dry slate, and features brick chimneys on the gable ends, as well as cast-iron ogee gutters.
The plan originally comprised two rooms at the front, flanking a cross passage, and likely included a back kitchen behind the right-hand side, with a later addition to the rear of the left-hand side.
The south-facing front has three windows, appearing nearly symmetrical, with a doorway and window above the central part of the facade. The original features include an old panelled door and circa late 19th or 20th-century horned sash windows set within original lintelled openings. The interior has not been inspected.
