Description

This early 19th-century town house, with later shops incorporated, is located on Church Street in Falmouth. The exterior is stuccoed over rubble, with a mid-floor string course and an asbestos slate roof. A brick end stack is visible on the right-hand side, and a cast-iron gutter runs along the front of number 23. The building follows a double-depth plan and rises to three storeys, originally featuring a three-window facade. The original first-floor sash windows retain glazing to their upper halves in number 23; otherwise, the window openings now contain 20th-century replacements. The ground floor has a full-width moulded entablature above two circa-1900 shop fronts. These shop fronts have splayed central doorways with curved returns and leaded glazing above transoms. Number 22 features an overlight with margin panes. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
