Description
No. 20 Church Street is a town house with a later shop, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted brick and features flat arches. The roof is made of scantle slate and has a brick stack on the left side and another towards the rear on the right. There are two gabled roof dormers on the rear slope, one of which has an old 12-pane casement window, while the other is blocked. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. The second floor has original or early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows in square openings. The first floor features a taller 6/1-pane hornless sash window on the left and two later horned copies. The ground floor has a full-width moulded cornice above a late 19th-century double shop front with end pilasters and a splayed central doorway that includes an overlight and a glazed door. The interior has not been inspected.
