Description
Captain Upton's Cottages are two small houses located immediately west of The Bosun's Locker in Falmouth. They date from the 18th century and were heavily restored in the 1980s. The ground floor and ends are constructed from killas and granite rubble, with a slate-hung gable on the left and a hip roof on the right. The upper floors, both front and rear, are rendered on studwork, and the building features a steep tiled roof. The cottages have a shallow-depth rectangular plan and rise to three storeys, presenting a four-window range with slightly irregularly spaced windows. The windows are 20th-century copies of original two-light casements with thick glazing bars, and there are 20th-century partly-glazed doors located in the center and towards the left. The interior was not inspected. The cottages are included for their group value.
