Description
No. 38 Church Street is a town house with later shops, dating from the early 19th century. It features incised stucco on masonry and has a round-arched panel in the central bay, along with a moulded parapet cornice and an asbestos slate roof. The building has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a three-window range. The original 12-pane hornless sash windows have segmental arches and central vertical glazing bars. The ground floor includes two complete late 19th-century shop fronts: a four-light shop front with round-arched lights on the left and a shop front with three basket-arched lights on the right. Both shop fronts have end pilasters with consoles that rise above a moulded entablature with fascia. There is a central doorway with panelled reveals, a five-panel door, and an overlight. The interior has not been inspected.
