Description
This is a wall fountain with surrounding walls and steps, dated 1545, located west of the Church of St Petroc in Bodmin. The structure features rubble and dressed granite retaining walls topped with granite battlements. It has two carved elvan lions' heads that serve as water spouts above a granite water trough, which is supported by small granite columns beneath a lintel. The wide granite steps are flanked on the left by wrought-iron balustrades, and there is a similar fence in front of the fountain. To the right, the walls partially enclose a granite water channel or trough, and to its left is a well niche with a doorway flanked by two reset granite columns, which may have originated from the former priory. The steps were added in the mid-19th century.
