Description
The walls, steps, and fountain located to the south and west of The Hall date from the 19th century and are constructed from coursed squared stone with ashlar. The low retaining wall features slab copings and connects three sets of steps that have 17th-century style banded balustrades. Each flight of steps is adorned with urns on pedestals at both the top and bottom, each urn having gadrooned tops and bases. Additional urns on pedestals are placed at regular intervals along the walls between the steps. The central steps lead down to another wall that curves outward in a semi-circle at the center, with large scrolled brackets supporting each corner of this wall. On the south side of the wall, there is a rocky tufa bank with a shell fountain that feeds into the polygonal pond below. The eastern flight of steps leads up to the front door of The Hall, while the western flight leads to the north lawn.
