Description

This guide post, located at the junction of the B3291 and Gweek Lane, dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. It features an octagonal base with a 12-sided fluted shaft that is divided into three diminishing stages, topped with a cornice. Above the cornice is a hub that supports three pointers, each ending in a rounded tip and displaying embossed letters. The pointers are inscribed with the names HELSTON, FALMOUTH, and REDRUTH, but do not indicate mileages. This guide post is a rare early example of its kind, being the only one documented in West Cornwall during this survey.
