Description
Barnfield is a house dating from around the early 19th century. The front elevation is stuccoed, and has a hipped roof covered in concrete tiles, with brick chimneys set into the side walls. Cast-iron gutters with an ogee section run along the roofline. The house has a double-depth plan, featuring two similarly sized reception rooms at the front, flanking an entrance hall which leads to a stair hall situated between the rear service rooms. The south-east front is symmetrical, with three windows and a central doorway. It has a granite ashlar plinth and is otherwise stuccoed. Pilasters are present on either side of the front on the ground floor and pilasters on the first floor, both decorated with Greek key detailing, along with a mid-floor band. The doorway has an elliptical head with an original six-panel door and a plain fanlight, approached by a granite step with shaped ends. The windows are original 16-pane sashes. The interior was not inspected.
