Description

The garden walls, gate piers, gate, and stile enclose the gardens of Barnfield, dating to the early 19th century. The walls are constructed of killed stone rubble with square-edged granite copings on the south-east side and slate copings on the rear wall. The rectangular garden is enclosed by walls on all four sides, with higher walls at the rear and sides. A low wall fronts the property, featuring a central gateway with square gate piers topped with pyramidal heads. An original arch-braced wrought-iron gate with urn finials on the terminal bars (stiles) occupies the gateway. To the right of the front wall is a later 19th-century stepped stile built of roughly-hewn granite monoliths.
