Description
Castle Villa, including the front garden walls, is a house dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of roughly coursed killas stone with dressed stone voussoirs above the openings. The roof is made of grouted scantle slate and has a hipped shape, with brick chimneys on the side walls. The building features cast-iron gutters in an ogee section.
The plan of the house is double-depth, with two rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall between two rear service rooms. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window facade facing the road, with a central doorway. The windows and door are likely original, featuring a panelled door with an overlight and 12-pane horned sashes. The openings are topped with shallow segmental arches that have keyblocks.
The front garden wall runs parallel to the house and extends to the sides, stepping down the slope and topped with dressed granite copings. The interior has not been inspected.
