Description
The garden walls, earth closets, and wash-house at the rear of the former coastguards' cottage were built in 1893. They are constructed from dressed killas with granite dressings and feature a dry Delabole slate hipped roof. The wash-house has a gabled-ended cross wing in the middle, with a louvre above it and a stone stack over the rear gable. The structure has a long rectangular plan, with the wash-house projecting slightly at the front and walls adjoining at right angles on either end.
The building is single storey with unaltered elevations. The nearly symmetrical northeast front features the projecting gable end of the wash-house in the center, flanked by identical pairs of earth closets. The original windows and doors remain intact. The wash-house has a 12-pane horned sash window on its left and a ledged door on its right. Each earth closet has two windows in the middle and a door on the left and right. The interior has not been inspected.
