Description

This is a corner shop with living accommodation, dating from the mid-19th century. It was later extended. The building is rendered with a pebble dash finish, incorporating stucco detailing. The roof is covered in asbestos slate with projecting eaves, including a hip where it meets the corner and adjoining party walls. Cast-iron gutters with an ogee section run along the roofline.

The layout is L-shaped, with a double-depth plan. The front features two shop fronts, with a central entrance and passageway to the right, and a house entrance on the left. The house entrance leads to a central passage behind the left-hand shop, with a parlour situated behind. Service rooms are located in the inner angle of the ‘L’.

The two-storey west front has three windows. The corner section on the left features a three-light shop front, while the right side has a four-light shop front. A doorway is located to the right of the shop fronts. The shop fronts are from the 19th century and retain original features. The left-hand shop has arch-headed windows, pilasters, a simple entablature, and an original door. The other shop front is flanked by pilasters, has mullions designed to resemble columns, and a moulded entablature with brackets and modillions. The three-window north front incorporates a central doorway with a moulded entablature above. There's a three-light return from the corner shop on the right, with tall window openings on both frontages, all featuring original 12-pane hornless sashes. The interior has not been inspected.
