Description

The Old Manse, located on Vicarage Road in St Agnes, is a former manse for the nearby Methodist chapel, now serving as a private house. It dates from around the mid-19th century and features an ashlar front. The building has an asbestos slate hipped roof with rendered brick chimneys on the side walls and cast-iron ogee gutters.

The layout consists of a double-depth plan with two rooms at the front, flanking a central entrance hall that leads to a stair hall between the rear service rooms. The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front with a central doorway. The openings are topped with flat arches that have projecting keystones. The door, likely original, has round-headed top panels that have been later glazed, along with an overlight. The windows are late 19th century or 20th century four-pane horned sashes.

Surrounding the house, there are coped ashlar walls on three sides of a shallow garden in front. The front wall, which was originally topped with railings, is lower than the others. The interior has not been inspected.
