Description

ST AGNES VICARAGE ROAD (east aide), SW 75 SW 4/246 Nos 35 (The Old Manse) including - front garden walls GV II

Former manse to Methodist chapel qv., now a private house including front garden walls. Circa mid C19. ashlar front. Asbestos slate hipped roof with rendered brick chimneys over the side walls. Cast-iron ogee gutters. Plan: Double-depth plan with 2 rooms at the front flanking a central entrance hall leading to stair hall between rear service rooms. Exterior: 2 storeys. Symmetrical 3-window front with central doorway. Openings are spanned by flat arches with projecting keystones. Probably original door with round- headed top panels later glazed, overlight. Circa late C19 or C20 4-pane horned sashes. Coped ashlar walls on 3 sides of shallow garden in front of the house. Front wall (originally surmounted by railings) is lower. Interior: Not inspected.
