Goosecroft House, The Square, Kintore

Goosecroft House, located in The Square, Kintore, is a former manse built around 1784, with additions made in 1839, resulting in an asymmetrical design. The building was originally a 2-storey and attic, 3-bay house that may have been raised when a 2-storey drawing room wing was added to the two west bays in 1839, which features a lean-to porch in the re-entrant angle. This wing was added to the rear of the 18th century house and includes a 2-storey canted window, likely from the same 1839 period. The house is constructed from granite, with ashlar on the main elevation from 1784, and squared rubble that is partly pinned elsewhere, featuring long and short dressings. The windows are primarily sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern, and there is one blocked attic window in the east gable from the 18th century. The roof is slate, with two later 19th century piended dormers and coped stacks. The property is enclosed by a coped rubble garden wall that includes a cast-iron pedestrian gate.
