Description
This is a range of farm buildings located to the north of Upton Barton, likely built in the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed from stone rubble and feature rag slate roofs with both hipped and gable ends.
The layout consists of barns situated on the north and west sides of a yard at Upton Farm. The barn on the west side is connected to the west gable end of the farmhouse and has a rectangular shape, with the ground rising towards the rear. There is a parallel range at the back, and the farm buildings extend to the east, creating an overall 'L' shaped plan. The ground floor includes shippons and stables, while the first floor contains a threshing floor, granary, and hay loft.
The buildings are two storeys high and feature asymmetrically placed windows and door openings. The western barn has dressed stone arches, while the northern side has granite lintels. On the first floor, there are plank double loft doors with hoods, and a row of pigeon holes is located below the eaves.
