HARBERTON SX75NE 5/382 Range of farm buildings immediately SSW and S of Stancombe Farmhouse
GV II
Range of planned farm buildings. Circa 1830-40. Slate rubble. Barn to south has scantle slate half-hipped roof. Stables to north west have corrugated asbestos roof with gabled ends. Plan: Overall L-shaped plan built around south and west side of a cobbled open farmyard with farmhouse (qv) on north side and shippon (qv) on east side. Exterior: Bank barn to south with five ground floor shippon doorways with cambered stone arches, and two similar loft doors at centre and right above. Barn has rear access at higher ground level at rear. To right, west of barn, a farm building, possibly a root store with loft above and lower roof level, ground floor cart entrance with loft door above, and window on both floors to right. All openings have cambered stone arches. Very long range of stables with lofts above, at right angles on west side of yard, with ground floor doorways alternating with windows, and only 3 loft doors and windows above, all with cambered brick arches. Centilation slits to ground floor at south end. Row of pigeon holes below eaves at north end. North gable end has external stone stairs to loft doorway. Interior not inspected
