Description
Luscombe Cross is a wayside cross and guide post, likely dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The head and top of the shaft were renewed in 1895. It is made of granite and features a large octagonal base that is battened inwards at the top to create a rough roll mould. The lower part of the shaft has hollow chamfered corners and is carved on four sides with the uppercase letters B, K, D, and T, which likely represent directions to South Brent, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, and Totnes. The top section of the shaft was replaced with a wheel-head shaft inscribed "RGH 2-5 1895."
