Description

This building is a bank barn with an adjoining shippon and cider house, located immediately south of Skindles Farmhouse. It dates from around the mid-19th century and is constructed of slate stone rubble, topped with a Welsh slate roof featuring gabled ends. The stables at the south end have a hipped roof.

The structure has a long rectangular layout, with the barn facing the yard. It includes ground floor shippon doorways with timber lintels, three of which have been partly blocked to create windows. There are two flights of external stone stairs leading to loft doorways, and several irregularly spaced pigeon holes near the center of the front. At the rear, there are two barn doors at a higher ground level.

To the right, at the north end, is the cider house, which has a plank door on the left and a cart entrance on the right. This entrance features a stone porch with a raking slurried slate roof and stone side walls, along with four pigeon holes above. The stables are positioned at right angles to the left at the south end, complete with a ground floor window and doorway, as well as a loft doorway above. This building is part of a farm group that includes Skindles Farmhouse and the piggery.
