Description
This building is a bank barn with an attached shippon, located immediately north-west of Higher Bowcombe Farmhouse. It dates from the late 18th century to early 19th century and is constructed of slate rubble, featuring granite quoins and lintels. The roof is a slurried slate half-hipped design. The structure has an L-shaped plan, with a wing on the right-hand side (south-east). It stands two storeys high, with five shippon doors on the ground floor and a loft door in the center of the first floor, which has a slated hood. There is also a row of pigeon holes with slate ledges beneath the eaves, and barn doors located at a higher level at the rear. This building is included for its group value.
