Description
This is a farm building, possibly once used for domestic purposes, located approximately 20 metres west of Menadarva Farmhouse. It dates from the 17th century and has been altered over time. The structure is built of uncoursed killas rubble with granite quoins and dressings, topped by a slate roof. It is a long, single-depth rectangular range oriented on a north-south axis and stands two storeys high.
The most notable feature is the south end wall, which has a simple moulded band. Below this band is a 4-light mullioned window with a chamfered sill and slender chamfered flush mullions, although all lights were blocked at the time of the survey in 1988. On the first floor, there is a 3-light mullioned window with similar features. The east (front) wall includes various doorways and windows, two of which have chamfered lintels. The north end of this wall is obscured by a modern extension, while the rear is covered by a large lean-to shed. The building has a hipped roof. The interior was not inspected.
