Description
This is a farmbuilding, likely dating to the late medieval period, with additions from the 17th century and alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with a sheet asbestos roof. The building is a low, two-storey range of three cells. Large quoins are visible externally. The earliest part of the range, on the left, has external stone steps leading to a quoined, round-headed slit window. Above this is a first-floor doorway, also with a similar slit window to its left, the head of which is masked by cement render. The remaining section of the range features two shallow-arched doorways and one with a wooden lintel. A first-floor door, fitted with a ledge, has a small window to its left and an altered two-light, double-chamfered window to its right.
The rear elevation shows that the older part of the building contains one blocked, round-headed slit window, with the head of another built into the walling. On the right return, the end wall of the 17th-century addition has a blocked two-light, double-chamfered window with a dripstone to each floor, the dripstones being cut back.
Inside, the single-celled medieval section has thicker walls. The 17th-century, two-cell section retains its original floor structures, featuring large-scantling, chamfered twin spine beams with run-out stops. The roof is of 19th-century construction.
