Description
No. 18 on Carr Lane is a small house dating from the mid-18th century. At the time of the last survey, it was derelict. The building is constructed from rubble magnesian limestone, with some areas rough-cast, and features a pantile roof. It stands two storeys high and has three windows on the first floor. The house has large, raised ashlar quoins and a central doorway that contains an old boarded door set in a chamfered, raised ashlar surround. The window surrounds are square-faced but lacked window frames during the survey. The gable ends have shaped kneelers and copings. There is a brick stack on the right side, while the left stack and gable apex have collapsed. Inside, there are infilled ashlar fireplaces on the ground floor to the right and on the first floor to the left. A central staircase turns left and right to access the upper rooms, with a fitted cupboard above.
