Description
Brookhouse Farmhouse is a late 17th-century farmhouse that has been altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared limestone with a 20th-century tile roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with attics, and originally had four windows on the first floor. Large quoins are visible on the exterior. The front of the house has been altered, featuring a porch on the left with 20th-century three-light casement windows on each floor, each with flush stone sills and plain lintels. A second doorway to the right has an intact two-light double-chamfered mullioned window to its side, and a single-light double-chamfered window above the doorway, with a 20th-century window to the right. Two rendered ridge stacks are present. A 20th-century addition to the left is not of particular architectural interest. The rear elevation features a two-light double-chamfered window on the left, with a matching window above and a single-light window to the right. The centre of the house has square-faced two-light mullioned windows on each floor, with a later doorway and windows to the right. The right return side has a three-light casement within a double-chamfered surround, with a lowered sill and dripstone; intact double-chamfered mullioned windows of three lights with dripstones are visible on the first floor and in the attic. The group value of this building reflects its contribution to the architectural landscape of the area.
