Description

Church Farmhouse is an early 18th-century farmhouse that has been altered. It is constructed of coursed rubble limestone and has a 20th-century pantile roof. The building has an L-shaped plan with a wing at the rear right and stands two and a half storeys tall, featuring three windows on the first floor. Large quoins are present at the corners. The central door is set in a raised ashlar surround and is flanked by inserted four-pane sash windows with projecting stone sills and wooden lintels; these windows were undergoing alterations to PVC casements at the time of the survey. The first-floor windows match those on the ground floor, while the second floor has short windows beneath the eaves with projecting sills. The gables are adorned with shaped kneelers, gable copings, and renewed brick end stacks. At the rear, the gable features single-light, double-chamfered attic windows and a brick end stack. On the left return, there is a double-chamfered two-light mullioned window on the first floor of the wing, along with a blocked single-light window on the main range near the junction with the wing. Inside, there is a wooden-framed partition wall that divides the house from the wing, and a slender-balustraded staircase. The attached outbuildings are not of special interest.
