Description

Caltonmoor House is an early 18th-century farmhouse, subject to later alterations. It is constructed of coursed and squared limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, with a roughcast finish. The roof is covered in plain tiles, and it features ashlar integral end stacks. The house has a roughly L-shaped plan, comprising a main north-south range facing east and a rear east-west wing. It is three storeys high, with a cellar, and the second floor has coved eaves. The front of the main range has three bays with casement windows. A lunette window is located in the centre of the second floor, with radiating glazing bars. The central entrance is a 6-panelled door, with the upper two panels glazed, and is topped by a flat bracketed hood. Two segmental arched entrances to the cellar are located approximately 10 yards in front of the house. Inside, the interior has chamfered spine beams with run-out stops, and the staircase is contained within the central bay.
