Description

This milepost, located at the National Grid Reference SK 1131 4833, dates from the mid to late 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a triangular section with a chamfered top. The top face is marked with "STANTON." The left-hand face displays distances to Froghall (6½ miles), Cheadle (8¼ miles), Hanley (16 miles), Stoke (17 miles), and Newcastle (18½ miles). The right-hand face indicates Ashbourne at a distance of 5¼ miles.
