Description
This is a milepost located in Swinscoe, dated 1834. It is made of cast iron and has a cylindrical shape with an enlarged head that features inscribed panels. The left-hand panel indicates "LEEK / 11/ MILES" and the right-hand panel states "ASHB N /4/ MILES". The top of the head is inscribed with "JAMES BASSET ASHBOURNE 1834", while the stem is inscribed with ".....DON 143 MILES".
