Description
The turret, loggia, steps, and parapet located immediately southeast of Ilam Hall were built around 1830, likely by James Trubshawe. Constructed from ashlar, the structure has a roughly square plan with a D-shaped projection at the northeast corner that connects to the steps and a turret at the southeast corner. The stair turret on the left features a lancet window and a crenellated parapet. The central loggia consists of seven bays with a four-centred arch and a corbelled, moulded cornice leading to an openwork parapet that curves around the top of the right-hand projection. To the right, a flight of steps leads to an opening in the parapet, which is flanked by square-section piers with moulded caps. The parapet at the rear of the terrace includes iron trellis work.
