Description
The Mrs. Watts-Russell Memorial is a memorial built in 1840, with a restoration in the 20th century. It is designed in the style of the Eleanor Crosses and features a six-sided structure. The base is stepped up to the first stage, which consists of trefoil-headed panels flanked by nook shafts, topped with pointed crocketed hoods. The second stage has trefoil-headed niches that contain figures, also with crocketed pointed hoods above, surmounted by crocketed finials. The third stage features a 20th-century cross and cross shaft. This memorial was erected in memory of the first Mrs. Watts-Russell by her husband and is prominently located in the later model estate village created by George Gilbert Scott.
