Description

Townend Cottage is a farmhouse that likely dates from the early 19th century, with some alterations made in the mid-19th century. The building is constructed from coursed and squared limestone rubble and features a clay tile roof with deep overhanging eaves and ashlar detailing. It has a two-room plan and stands two storeys high, with two windows that have casements and segmental heads. The central door also has a segmental head and there is a bracketed gutter. Townend Cottage is part of the picturesque estate Alpine village created by Scott.
