Description

This is a milepost dated 1834, located in Waterhouses. It is made of cast iron and has a cylindrical shape with an enlarged head that features two inscribed panels. The left panel reads "LEEK / 8 / MILES" and the right panel reads "ASHB N / 7 / MILES". The head of the milepost is inscribed with "JAMES BASSET ASHBOURNE 1834", while the shaft has an inscription that reads ".....46 MILES".
