This is a milepost dated "JAMES BASSETT ASHBOURNE 1834". It is made of cast iron and has a cylindrical shape with an enlarged head. The milepost features inscriptions indicating the distances: "LEEK / 12 / MILES" and "ASHB / 3 MILES".
