Description
This is a milepost dated 1834, made of cast iron. It has a cylindrical shape with an enlarged head that features two inscribed panels. The left panel reads "LEEK / 10 / MILES," while the right panel states "ASHB / 5 / MILES." The stem of the milepost is inscribed with "LONDON 144 MILES," and the top of the head is inscribed with "JAMES BASSETT ASHBOURNE 1834."
