Description
This is a milepost dating from the mid to late 19th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular section with a chamfered top. The top face is inscribed with the word "COTTON." The left-hand face displays the distances to Froghall (4½ miles), Cheadle (6¼ miles), Hanley (14 miles), and Stoke (15 miles). The right-hand face indicates the distance to Ashbourne (7¼ miles).
