Description
Ribden Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse built in 1748, with later alterations. It features coursed rubble construction with ashlar quoins and dressings, and herringbone tooling. The roof is plain tile, and there is a central rock-faced ashlar stack. The building has a T-shaped baffle-entry plan, with the main range aligned east-west facing south and a rear wing aligned north-south. It stands three storeys tall, with reduced proportions on the second floor, and has two bays. The windows on the ground floor are 20th-century top-hung casements set in 18th-century chamfered surrounds, while the second floor has blocked 2-light flat-face mullioned windows. The central door features a cambered lintel, and both the door and ground-floor windows have a continuous dripstone above them. Inside, there is a former inglenook fireplace with a stopped and chamfered bresummer, along with stopped and chamfered ceiling beams.
