Description

This is a milepost from the mid to late 19th century, made of cast iron. It has a triangular section with a chamfered top. The top face is marked with the name "COTTON". The left side displays distances to Froghall (2 ½ miles), Cheadle (5 ½ miles), Hanley (12 miles), Stoke (13 miles), and Newcastle (14 ½ miles). The right side indicates the distance to Ashbourne (9 ¼ miles).
