Description

This is a milepost located opposite the junction with Addison Road on Maltby Rotherham Road, dating from the late 19th century. It was made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. The milepost is constructed from cast iron and is fixed on a gritstone pillar. It features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "BAWTRY & TINSLEY / ROAD / MALTBY." The left side indicates distances to Sheffield (12 miles), Tinsley (8 miles), and Rotherham (5 3/4 miles). The right side shows distances to Barnby Moor (11 1/4 miles), Bawtry (9 miles), and Tickhill (5 1/4 miles).
