Description
This is a milepost from the second half of the 19th century, made by Brayshaw and Booth of Liversedge. It is constructed from cast iron and fixed onto a gritstone pillar. The milepost features angled sides and a sloping top plate beneath a round-headed panel. The raised lettering on the upper panel reads "BAWTRY & TINSLEY / ROAD / BRINSWORTH." On the left side, it indicates "BARNBY / MOOR / 18 1/4 MILES / BAWTRY / 16 MILES," although part of the lettering is buried. The right side shows "SHEFFIELD / 5 MILES / TINSLEY / 1 MILE." This milepost is located on the boundary with Brinsworth Parish.
